VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A rising star in the world of professional boxing was shot to death at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
22-year-old Cordaro Simpkins was with a group of friends when police say they got into an argument with another group of guys just after midnight. Shots were fired and Simpkins was hit.
Officers arrived at the scene on 18th Street between Pacific and Arctic Avenues within minutes, but despite life-saving attempts, Cordaro died at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

According to globalboxing.com , Simpkins was promoted by Terry Trekas’ One Punch Productions and was managed/trained by former Lightweight Champion Nate Campbell.
The unknown suspects fled the area on foot.
