OBX fire destroys home, damages another

NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WAVY) - One home was completely destroyed and another was damage after fire tore through a neighborhood in Nags Head late Saturday night.

Nags Head fire crews responded to intersection of S. Bodie Island Court and Sea Gull Drive around 10:41 p.m. after receiving reports of a house fire. 

Crews arrived on he scene and found a home engulfed in flames and two people who had escaped the burning house unharmed, according to a press release from the town of Nags Head.

Nags Head firefighters, with the help of other area fire departments, worked to prevent the fire from spreading and contain damage to other homes nearby.

The house where the fire originated was completely destroyed and a neighboring home was also damaged.

No injuries were reported.

A Ten On Your Side viewer told WAVY.com two people who lived in the home managed to make it out with just the clothes they had on.

Fire crews from Colington, Kill Devils Hills, Kitty Hawk, Manns Harbor, Roanoke Island, Southern Shores, and Stumpy Point all assisted in fighting the fire. The Dare County Fire Marshal and Dare County Emergency Medical Services were also at the scene.

Fire investigators have not  yet determined a cause of the fire.
