NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - One man is behind bars and two others are on the run after a weekend shooting that left one man dead.
Detectives say 22-year-old Wilson was at a party when he was shot and killed Saturday morning in the 800 block of East Princess Anne road.
Family and friends gathered Sunday night to remember Wilson's life and say he was killed while trying to save others. Family members told WAVY.com Wilson was at a party when three suspects came to rob them. They say he was trying to get partygoers out safely when he was shot.
It's never easy to say goodbye to someone you love.
"That night for me was tough...I watched my brother die," Wilson's brother said.
"It could have been anybody's child but it was mine," said Wilson's mother.
But it's always harder when that person is taken from you.
"This was my son...he never did anything. He never messed with no body. He ain't ever messed with no body. He was always there...He was always there," Wilson's mother continued.
Family members say the violence has got to stop before another life is taken away too soon.
Wison has a one-year-old son and another child on the way.
Police have named three suspects involved in the shooting and have already arrested one. Maurice Hyman, 22, faces robbery and weapons charges.
Officers are still looking for 29-year-old Charles Duynes and 27-year-old Rickey Riden. If you know where they are, call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
