Task force to study relocating eagles

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -
Board members of the Norfolk Botanical Garden voted to form a task force to study the effects of removing an eagle nest from the property.
The move is a step to delay the city's plan to move the nest this fall. The city has been instructed by the USDA and FAA to remove the nests because of safety concerns regarding the proximity of the nests to the Norfolk Airport.
Two eagles who nested at the Norfolk Botanical Garden were struck and killed by planes last year, according to the USDA's Wildlife Damage Management department.
The board is also asking City Manager Marcus Jones to delay removal until the study is complete.
