NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a school bus did not stop when it turned a corner outside a Norfolk school Thursday and rear-ended another school bus.
Chris Amos with the Norfolk Police Department said the bus that was hit in turn hit the one in front of it, and the domino effect continued for two more buses.
Amos said the accident was reported at 4 p.m. in the 600 block of May Avenue, in front of Ruffner Academy.
Schools spokeswoman Karen Tanner said the accident happened at dismissal time.
Amos said eight students reported being injured and said those injuries do not appear to be serious.
The other students on the buses at the time of the crash waited inside the school until replacement buses arrived, Tanner said.
Norfolk Public Schools is investigating the incident.
