NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A sailor returning from deployment met his new family member at the Norfolk International Airport Friday.
David Wolery was deployed to Bahrain last summer. Wolery and his fiancee looked into adopting a dog and found the dog of their dreams, Prinz, online.
"So I just went to Petfinder one night and I put in "Keeshound" and his face popped up on the first one, and I just fell in love instantly," Wolery said. "So I emailed her the link and everything and I bugged her and told her, 'You need to go see this dog now.'"
Wolery and his fiancee met Prinz at the airport Friday with the help of Julie Parker from PAWS of Hertford County, N.C.
"It was very special to see them working as a team over the internet, making the adoption with this dog and since he's been home, he's Face Timed with the dog just about every night," Parker said.
