NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk City Council may give the green light to red light cameras.
With help from the police precincts and the Division of Transportation, 26 intersections were identified as candidates for red light cameras.
City council has narrowed that list down to eight. The plan calls for two cameras to be installed in these intersections:
If the proposal is passed it will be months before the cameras go up, a Norfolk city spokesperson told 10 On Your Side.
An engineering study must be conducted and then VDOT has to approve the plan.
Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Newport News already have the PhotoSafe cameras.
