NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - An overhead device caught on fire, cutting off electricity to many schools, administrative buildings and homes in Norfolk's section of Ghent Friday.

According to Bonita Harris with Dominion Virginia Power, the device caught fire at 21st Street and Llewellyn Avenue Friday morning.

Harris said more than 2,200 customers were affected by the outage including Ghent Elementary School, Maury High School and EVMS.
