NORFOLK, va. (WAVY) - A Navy sailor's life was likely saved by four ODU ROTC students last weekend.
Last weekend, the students were on their way to a military exercise early Saturday morning. They saw a man attempting to hop on a moving train. He then fell and was struck by the train.
"I did not think for one second," Officer candidate Roberto Piedra said. "Everything I did was reactive. But for my colleagues to step in like they did, young students who have never seen anything like that, it really does show what amazing things human beings can do when they collaborate."
Midshipman Patrick Clark, Alex Asta and Midshipman Nicholas Howe were also on scene to assist the wounded sailor.
The students stuck around following the accident to provide aid to the sailor and provide information to police.
