Study: EVMS improves healthcare in HR

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - On Monday, the Eastern Virginia Medical School held a news conference to discuss the school's economic impact on Hampton Roads.

A new study says despite the recession, EVMS has stayed relatively stable, helping the area. The study was conducted by noted economist James V. Koch, PhD, who happens to be a former president of ODU,

The school also has been able to retain high paying jobs. EVMS is the 20th largest non-governmental employer.

The study goes on to mention how EVMS has drastically improved healthcare in Hampton Roads.

Many students who get medical degrees for the school, stay in the area.
