NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Old Dominion University and Norfolk city leaders broke ground on a new townhouse complex Thursday.

It's called the 43rd Street Project.

The goal is to provide young families affordable housing that will help revitalize the area around ODU and the Lambert's Point area.

The 51-unit complex is designed to appeal to local teachers, police officers, medical professionals and ODU employees.

The University says model units are expected to be open by the end of June 2010, and the entire development should be completed by fall 2011.
