NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A police recruit had a medical incident at the Norfolk Training Center on Military Highway on Thursday afternoon.

The recruit was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he underwent surgery. He is listed in critical condition, according to police spokesperson Karen Parker-Chesson.

Chris Amos  with Norfolk Police said he was unsure what caused the recruit's medical problem, and did not know if the man suffered a pre-existing condition.
