NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A Norfolk man who doesn't normally play the lottery won $25,000 in the Virginia's New Year's Millionaire Raffle .
According to lottery officials, Khalid Muhammad decided to give the lottery a shot when he saw a line of people rushing to buy the raffle tickets.
Muhammad bought his winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 1928 Battlefield Boulevard North in Chesapeake.
He exclaimed, "Happy New Year to me!" when he claimed his prize at the Virginia Lottery's customer service center in Hampton.
Muhammad said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills.
His ticket was one of six $25,000 winners in Virginia's New Year's Millionaire Raffle.
The other five winning tickets were bought in Burke, Richmond, Glen Allen, Hampton, and Clear Brook. Three tickets won the $1 million prize and an additional 300 tickets won $500.
