NORFOLK, Va. - Hundreds of people attended the Tidewater Gun and Knife Show at the Norfolk Scope on Saturday.
The promoters say sales increased by 30 percent compared to the gun show they held at Scope last year. Gun exhibitors say customers were loading up on guns, gun magazines, and ammo. They believe talks of gun control by President Barack Obama is driving some people to buy more guns.
"People in general are trying to buy before any further restrictions come into play. I have been seeing more and more new people to gun especially women," Owner of Master's Holsters Engin Uyarogulu said.
"If you take guns from the citizens it's still not going to stop people that want to shoot people or do bad things from having weapons," gun show customer, Kyle Dahlman added.
The Tidewater Gun and Knife Show featured close to 30 exhibitors with 300 tables of products. Sellers say demand is so high on some gun items sellers are running out. This is the second gun show to come to Hampton Roads this month.
The show continued at Scope Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
