NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A house along West Ocean Avenue in Norfolk sustained moderate damage to its kitchen after a fire Tuesday afternoon.

Capt. Mike Hicks with the Norfolk Fire Rescue said the fire occurred in the 100 block of West Ocean Avenue. The fire began in the kitchen and has been ruled as electrical in nature.

According to Hicks, electrical cords were providing electricity from the garage to the kitchen.

No one was injured in the fire. Hicks said a neighbor was able to rescue two dogs from the home.

The kitchen sustained moderate damage while the rest of the house sustained smoke damage.
