NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A flight headed to Miami was diverted to Norfolk Wednesday night after a passenger died on the plane.
Norfolk International Airport spokesman Wayne Shank told WAVY.com a 73-year-old man started having difficulty breathing about 20 minutes after takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport. A doctor on board American Airlines flight 613 performed CPR and also used an AED on the plane, but the efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
When the plane landed in Norfolk shortly before 7:30 p.m., paramedics also tried to revive the man, but were unable, said Shank.
The airport has not released the man's name.
