NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - An Ocean View man stabbed his neighbor to death outside their apartment building Saturday morning, according to Norfolk police.

Spokesman Chris Amos said officers responded to a stabbing call in the 9600 block of 9th View around 8:45 a.m.. They arrived to find 49-year-old Marvin Gregory Thornsbury lying outside and suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Medics took Thornsbury to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died.

Officers arrested 58-year-old Gerald Donald Brockett at the scene. Amos said police charged Brockett with murder and placed him in the city jail without bond.

Amos said the two men were neighbors who lived in the 9600 block of 9th View Street. The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
