IRS: Mo Money raid is 'part of process'

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WAVY) - After a raid at Mo Money Taxes headquarters in Memphis, Tenn., WAVY.com has learned the federal agents who initiated the investigation came from the Internal Revenue Service office in St. Louis.

IRS agents stood at the entrances of Mo Money as the raid was underway Wednesday morning. WAVY.com has continued to follow the company after Hampton Roads residents reached out to 10 On Your Side with complaints against the Norfolk office.

John Nunez, public information officer for IRS Criminal Investigation for the St. Louis Field Office tells WAVY.com at least six agents were conducting "official business." Nunez not confirm or deny if there is a federal search warrant for the property.

He added if there was, it would be sealed and says the raid is just the first step in a process.

Mo Money CEO Markey Granberry said he invited the IRS.

"By far, Mo Money is not to blame for these errors. we came to work just like we normally do, all over these years," Granberry said. "At the end of this, everything, justice will prevail, and we gone be ok, we gone be ok."
