NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say a large gas main was struck by a construction company, causing police to close down Ballentine Boulevard from E. Princess Anne Road to Dogan Street.

According to Bat. Chief Julian Williamson with the Norfolk Fire Department, crews were called to the area just before 5 p.m. for a high-pressure gas leak.

Virginia Natural Gas and the Norfolk Police Department along with the fire department were on scene to shut the leak down.

No one was evacuated and there were no injuries.

The leak was still active as of 9 p.m. Thursday.
