NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Art Sessoms, the man behind the Norfolk Admirals' mascot Hat Trick, was diagnosed earlier this month with kidney disease and multiple myloma, a form of cancer.

A benefit was held Friday in honor of Sessoms to help raise money toward his treatment. All proceeds from the event went straight to Sessoms.

"To know these fans are here for me, that's just unbelievable," Sessoms said. "To all of the Admirals fans, thank you for everything you've done for me. I won't let you down."

If you would like to help, visit the Norfolk Admirals United Facebook page here.

The event was held at Big Woody's Bar and Grill at Chesapeake Square, and included live music, a silent auction, prizes and games.
