NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police have identified the man killed in an accident on Northampton Boulevard Monday morning.

According to investigators, Milton Alexander Thomas, 41, was observed driving erratically prior to crash at around 5:40 a.m. His vehicle struck a guard rail and a median, then went off the road and hit several trees.

Crews responded to the scene and closed the eastbound lanes of Northampton Boulevard at the I-64 interchange for several hours.

Norfolk police spokeswoman Karen Parker-Chesson said Thomas was wearing a seatbelt, but it is not known at this time if he experienced a medical condition.
