2 Somali pirates sentenced to life

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Two Somali men who pleaded guilty for their roles in the hijacking of a yacht that left all four Americans on board dead have been sentenced to life in prison for a second time after the judge who sentenced them the first time recused himself.
U.S. District Judge Mark S. Davis recused himself from the suspected pirate cases in late December when he learned the Navy transferred the yacht to a marina partially owned by his brother.
Another federal judge sentenced pirate commander Mohamud Hirs Issa Ali and electrician-turned-pirate Jilian Abdiali again on Tuesday.
In all, 11 men have pleaded guilty in the hijacking case. Three others face murder charges, and one man faces charges in that case and in the hijacking of a German merchant vessel.
