Norfolk holds free H1N1 clinic early

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Department of Health will be closed Thursday, November 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday, so the office is holding its H1N1 vaccination clinic scheduled for Thursday on Tuesday instead.

The Immunization Clinic will be held Tuesday, November 24 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at 830 Southampton Ave., which is near the intersection of Brambleton and Colley Avenues.

The Health Department says the immunizations are for people at greatest risk for exposure and complications of H1N1 infection, including:

  • People between 6 months - 24 years old
  • College Students
  • Pregnant Women
  • People with chronic medical conditions (i.e. Cardiovascular Disease, Respiratory Disease, Diabetes, Kidney Disease, Sickle Cell Anemia, etc.)
  • People with weakened immune systems (i.e. HIV positive)
  • Healthcare workers
  • Emergency medical providers
  • Daycare providers

The Norfolk Department of Public Health encourages area residents to give themselves and their families an extra special reason to be thankful for the holidays, by being immunized and protected against the H1N1 Pandemic.
