NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Firefighters battled a suspicious fire in the Tanners Creek area early Sunday evening.
Crews responded to a fire in the 1400 block of East Tanners Creek Drive about 7:20 p.m. The arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from an abandoned, one-story townhouse. They forced entry and began an immediate attack on the fire.
Firefighters found no one inside the home, and no one suffered injuries in the blaze.
A Norfolk Fire Department spokesman said the fire appears suspicious. An investigator from the Fire Marshal's Office has begun looking into the cause.
Passersby made multiple 911 calls to report smoke coming from the area, according to the spokesman.
