Nor'easter community cleanup in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. - Over 60 volunteers will participate in the Nor'easter Community Cleanup on Saturday, November 21, from 9am until noon. Volunteers will move from one location to another, removing trash and debris in the neighborhoods most affected by the November Nor'easter.

Keep Norfolk Beautiful (KNB) and the Department of Public Works' Storm Water Management Divisions organized the event. John Deuel, Recycling Coordinator for the City of Norfolk, is pleased with the commitment of core volunteers from over 20 civic leagues and 150 Adopt-A-Street group

"We are extremely grateful for the support of our dedicated volunteers," said Deuel. "Their participation in this event will enhance the cleanup efforts of City crews who have been working around the clock to remove storm debris and restore and maintain services."

Volunteer groups will be working at the following locations:

  • Depaul Hospital (Afton Avenue through Fayton Avenue)
  • The Hague
  • Harbor Park/Park Avenue
  • Lake Liberty Storm Water Pond (Ballentine Boulevard)
  • Little Bay Avenue (14th View Street to Captains Quarters.)
  • Norview Avenue (at Military Highway, across from K-Mart)
  • Pretty Lake (East Ocean View)
  • Princess Anne Road (at Armistead Avenue)
