NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Don't be surprised if you get a call from police this weekend. The Newport News Police Department just wants to know what you think about their performance.

Random homes in the city will receive the automated call from Saturday through Monday. Surveyors will ask nine basic questions.

What kinds of questions can you expect if you're selected to take the survey? Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department told WAVY.com, "They're going to be centered around how we respond. If they've had any contact. What type of contact that was. How they perceive the way we are doing our job. The big thing is, how the community is perceiving the way we do what we're supposed to do."

Newport News conducted a similar survey in 2006.

According to the department, 92 percent of those who responded felt the department's overall performance was satisfactory, or better.
