NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say a 4-year-old girl was able to dial 911 while her mother was having a seizure.
According to Newport News Fire Department Chief Steve Pincus, Jailah Driver called 911 and was engaged by Sarah Sledge, a dispatcher, long enough to answer all of the appropriate questions.

"For her to know that information is amazing," Sledge said. "Every parent should look to her parents because they taught her so young. She did so good. She was very polite, she listened to direction very well which obviously she learned from her parents."
When crews arrived to the home in Denibigh, they were able to talk Jailah through unlocking the front door of the home so they could provide proper assistance to her mother, who was then taken to a local hospital.
Pincus says this incident shows how important it is parents teach their children how to call for help in emergency situations.
