NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Williamsburg woman will spend over six years in prison after amassing more than $780,000 in a counterfeit money order scheme.
Trenita Ashlock, 56, was charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and transmitting a counterfeit money order.
From Sept. 2010 until Dec. 2010, Ashlock used information received from a foreign source to make more than 600 counterfeit money orders. All of the money orders were for $995.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, a search of Ashlock's home uncovered more 150 U.S. Postal money orders.
Three years of supervised release will follow Aslock's prison term.
