NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - The first Walmart Neighborhood Market store in the Newport News area opened its doors Wednesday morning.
The store, located at 11214 Jefferson Ave., kicked off its grand opening at 7:30 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The community is invited to visit the store for samples, giveaways and other events throughout the day.
The celebration also includes $8,000 in grants to support Special Olympics, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of the Virginia Peninsula, Food Bank of Virginia and The Volunteer Center.
The store will be open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
