NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News police have two suspects in custody in connection with a robbery on Jefferson Avenue.

Officers were called to robbery at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Hapersville Road on Jan. 21 at 9:40 p.m.

The victim told police that as he was driving down Jefferson Avenue, a car suddenly pulled in front of him and braked, causing him to rear end the vehicle.

Two men got out of the suspect car, pulled the victim out of his vehicle and took his wallet.

Police later identified the two suspects as 19-year-old Daniel Raymond Pendergast and 19-year-old Travis Lee Morgan.

Morgan, of the 1600 block of Colonial Avenue in Smithfield, surrendered to police on Feb 3. Pendergast, of the 600 block of Creasy Avenue in Newport News, was arrested on Feb. 4.

Both suspects are being held in the Newport News City Jail.
