NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A racing-style vehicle caught fire Monday morning after flammable materials around the vehicle ignited.
Acting Fire Chief Scott Liebold with the Newport News Fire Department said crews responded to Pete’s Custom Auto located at 10165 Jefferson Ave. for a report of a commercial structure fire just before 7:30 a.m.
When crews arrived on scene, they found a racing-style vehicle on fire in the shop area. Liebold said workers were welding on the vehicle before the fire and it looks as though flammable materials around the vehicle ignited.
The building did not suffer any structural damage and no injures were reported.
