NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Twenty-one Dominion Virginia Power customers lost power Monday after three cables burned.

Several commercial customers, including a Starbucks in the 300 block of Oyster Point Road at Nettles Drive, were affected by the outage.

Dominion spokeswoman Bonita Harris told WAVY.com they are not sure how the cables caught fire, although she said a common cause when this happens is animals chewing on the wires.

Harris said the fire started around 7:30 a.m. Power was expected to be restored to customers by 2 p.m.
