NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News firefighters responded to a fire at the Outback Steakhouse , located on Jefferson Avenue near the Patrick Henry Mall at around 3:30 Monday morning.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the structure. The fire was deemed under control about an hour later at 4:25 a.m.
Fire officials say no one was hurt in the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
An Outback employee told WAVY.com the restaurant would be closed for up to 10 days due to the fire.

The business was equipped with working smoke detectors and an emergency alarm system, which notified the City of the situation in its earliest stages.
