NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A woman was found dead following a fire at a Newport News home Saturday morning.
Fire crews responded to the 1000 block of 27th Street around 9:45 a.m. for a reports of a house fire.
During a search of the home firefighters discovered the body of an 81-year-old Bobbie Grier, according to Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 10 minutes. Investigators say the incident does not appear to be suspicious.
No other details on the fire or the woman's death have been released.
