NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Newport News woman who went missing from an assisted living facility late Thursday night, returned home unharmed Saturday.
Police say Andretta Yvonne Nickson returned to the Open Arms Assisted Living Facility on 27th Street just before midnight Saturday and appeared to be in good health.
There was concern for Nickson's safety because she had not taken her medication. She was reported to be bipolar and to have diabetes.
Nickson informed police of her activities during the period she was considered missing.
Residents of the facility are free to come and go as they please, according to police.
Thursday night the 41-year-old Nickson told staff at the Open Arms Assisted Living Facility that she was going for a walk. When she did not return the facility's staff called police.
