NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - The brother of NFL star Michael Vick is behind bars in Newport News.

Marcus Vick turned himself in Sunday night, Kathleen Carey, with the Newport News Sheriff's Office, said.

Two weeks ago, a judge sentenced him to 10 days in jail on a contempt of court charge. The former Virginia Tech football player failed to appear in court twice after being charged for driving on a suspended license.

Last Wednesday, the judge issued an arrest warrant after he failed to turn himself in.

Marcus appeared in court Monday, where the 10 day sentence was imposed. No additional charges were filed.

Carey said once Marcus completes his time in Newport News, Montgomery County officers will be contacted, so he can answer to charges in their jurisdiction.
