Man faces new child sex crime charges

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Newport News man faces new sex charges after being indicted by the February Grand Jury.

Rene Medina Martinez, 34, of Newport News, was arrested on Nov. 19, 2011 and charged with one count of rape, aggravated sexual batter and indecent liberties with a child.

The jury indicted Martinez on additional charges of three county of indecent liberties with a child and one count each of object sexual penetration and forcible sodomy, all stemming from the same incident or incidents.

Newport News Police say the incident that took place on Nov. 17, 2011 involves a seven-year-old Newport News girl that is known to Martinez, and that the incident took place in the victim's home.
