NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Newport News man has been charged with felony hit and run and reckless driving after police say he hit a pedestrian on Bland Blvd. Friday morning.
Police say Clifton Matthew Mallicott, 19, struck a 43-year-old woman with a Honda Accord after he drove onto the sidewalk in the 900 block of Bland Blvd around 9 a.m.
Allegedly, one of the three occupants in the car briefly exited the car, spoke to the victim, got back inside the car and drove off.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police say.
Police tell WAVY.com that Mallicott turned himself in after being told of the news coverage of the incident.
