Frontier to reduce NN-Denver flights

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Beginning next spring, Frontier Airlines will no longer offer daily non-stop service between Newport News and Denver.

Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport officials say Frontier will reduce daily non-stop service to three days per week.

Frontier spokeswoman Kate O'Malley tells The Daily Press  that the service will be changed to a level that makes economic sense and can be supported by available aircraft time.

O'Malley says the revised schedule will go into effect May 1, 2013 and run through Labor Day 2013. It will be subject to review after then.

She says the route is a strong summer performer.

The airport lost flights last spring when AirTran Airways left.

Airport executive director Ken Spirito says efforts are continuing to bring a new carrier to the airport.
