NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Hampton man has been arrested and charged in connection with a double homicide thanks to tips from the Crime Line, according to Newport News Police.

Harold Eley, spokesman for the Newport News Police Department, said Brian Smith has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for the deaths of Katherine Dianne Parker and Eddie Arnold Ezzell.

On March 16, police received a call in reference to two people dead in an RV on Dean Ray Court in Newport News at Davis Mobile Home and RV Park.

Eley said police received valuable information on June 19 from the Crime Line in reference to the murders. Through the investigation, witness statements and the Crime Line, officers were able to identify Smith as the shooter.

The motive has been determined to be robbery and drug related, Eley said. Smith was arrested at his home in Hampton around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
