NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - An official change of leadership in Newport News took place Tuesday.
City Council appointed Acting City Manager Neil Morgan to that position, effective immediately.
Morgan took over in August 2009 after Randy Hildebrandt was fired.
"I am delighted that the City Council unanimously decided to name Neil Morgan as City Manager," said Newport News Mayor Joe S. Frank in a news release. "His many years of dedicated and devoted service to the City of Newport News and its citizens have been a major contribution to our progress. The respect he has among members of Council, as well as citizens, will serve him well as he addresses the challenges and opportunities that the future holds."
