New rec center to come to VB

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach City Council is one step closer to creating a Youth Resource Center with Grammy award winning musician Pharrell Williams .

Tuesday afternoon, Council discussed the plans for the Pharrell Williiams Resource Center., a project the local music superstar has been working on for years.

Last week, the non-profit group, "From One Hand To Another." led by Williams and his mother, Carolyn, signed a memorandum of understanding with the city that outlines the plans, costs, operation and maintenance of the proposed center.

According to the proposal, the center would be built off Newtown Road and would support young people with after school programs rooted in math, science, language arts, digital music and other amenities.
