CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - Prosecutors in Currituck County Wednesday revealed new evidence in their case against Daniel Robinson, who is charged with possessing ingredients that could be combined to make a weapon of mass destruction--essentially a bomb.

Prosecutors said local investigators and FBI agents searched Robinson's house and discovered bottles of chemicals and a bag of fuses, along with what appeared to be a list of 12 "targets," including the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel, and federal buildings and federal courthouses in Norfolk and Newport News.

WAVY.com began investigating Robinson, a general contractor, a year ago when several customers turned to us for help claiming Robinson had cheated them.

Investigators testified Wednesday that they also found in Robinson's house a list of senators in Virginia and North Carolina with some of them singled out.

"There are lists of senators in the 2009-2010 session, some of them are circled in pen and highlighted with highlighter," said one investigator.

Police say they also found several applications Robinson allegedly filled out for Neo-Nazi organizations and other groups.

But, then Robinson's attorney threw a curveball, telling the judge his client was actually working with the FBI to investigate those groups.

"He was being asked to infiltrate a number of paramilitary organizations by the FBI. He was obtaining information on the KKK and the New Socialist Movement at the behest, working as an agent of the FBI," said his attorney.

Robinson's attorney claims his client had a pre-scheduled meeting with FBI agents about his work for them, but he was arrested the day before that meeting was supposed to happen.

The judge in Wednesday's probably cause hearing found there is enough evidence against Robinson to send the case to trial.
