WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. (WAVY) - NASA has announced it will be launching two rockets from Wallops Island later this week.
A Terrier-Improved Malemute will be launched Sept. 21 and a Talos-Terrier-Oriole is set to be launched Sept. 22. Both are scheduled to take off between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
The first launch will drop off four student projects in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 66 miles off the coast of Virginia. the student groups participating are from Baylor University, University of Colorado, the University of Puerto Rico and Virginia Tech.
The second launch of the month will be the first for Talos-Terrier-Oriole, which will support high-altitude space science research. It is set to land in the Atlantic Ocean after about 10 minutes in flight.
The NASA Visitor Center at Wallops will open at 6 a.m. on launch days and the missions can be live streamed here .
