Mo Money Taxes CEO texts customers

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Angry customers demanding refund checks from Mo Money Taxes say they texted the CEO of the company.

They say they got the number of Mo Money Taxes CEO Markey Granberry from Norfolk franchise owners.

Those customers gave WAVY.com permission to view the messages and Granberry's responses. To verify it was his number, WAVY.com called. No one answered, but Granberry identified himself on the voicemail.

One customer texted, "This is URGENT. It may not mean anything to U but this is mines and my son Life and I have my 5month old Nephew and now where to go."

She says Granberry responded, "U can either raise hell or pray!"

In another text, Granberry wrote, "your check is not in the batches.I have the processor doing special research on you today."

But when the customer spoke to Granberry by phone, she said Granberry did not know her name.

In one text, Granberry gave the following explanation for late refund checks.

"I don't have your money sweetey.a bank in texas has both of our money and the processor n la has to send a file to india.we are not small by a long shot! When the file is correct it happens in seconds but the processor has to manually fix the codes in the software to make it work!"

And, because text message seems to be the best way to reach Granberry, WAVY.com sent him a message requesting to speak with him.

One customer showed WAVY.com a text Granberry sent that says "Call your lawyer and Channel 10mi bet they can't help u like I can."

Granberry texted the same customer he plans to be in Norfolk this week.
