Norfolk police arrest murder suspect

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk Police have arrested a suspect wanted for a September, 2009 shooting.

Investigators apprehended 19-year-old John Nelson Ryan, nickname "Ryder," at about 4 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Edgevale Court in Virginia Beach.

Ryan was wanted in connection with the murder of Adam Harris on September 4. Officers found Harris lying in the middle of a parking lot at the America's Best Value Inn on North Military Highway in September. He had been shot to death, according to police spokesperson Officer Chris Amos.

Both Norfolk and Virginia Beach police assisted in the arrest of Ryan. He has been charged with one count of murder, three counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, two counts of attempted robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, police said. These are all felony charges.

He is being held in the Norfolk City Jail.
