Memory card found in jailed mom's bra

Discovered during strip search

GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) - A search warrant reveals new information into the investigation of a Gloucester mother accused of killing one child and caging another.

According to the police search warrant, deputies found a small memory card inside Shannon Gore's bra.

According to Public Information Officer Paula Miller, Gore was strip searched at the Norfolk jail because she was believed to be hoarding her medicine. The memory card fell out of her sports bra, and the medicine was found under the adhesive of her sanitary napkin, said Miller.

Gore's attorney, Ron Smith, said she had the memory card in a tissue in her hand for a long time. Investigators seized the memory card, believing it to be from her cell phone, because it could yield more information about the case. "The phone and the card had evidence that she wants to use in the event of trial, so she wanted to preserve that. She didn't want to give it to them," said Smith.

Smith added, "all it has is pictures of her daughter on it, there's nothing incriminating about it."

Gore's attorney said he doesn't know where the phone is. With regards to the medicine, Smith said it was one pill that she didn't feel like taking at the moment.

In April, deputies found two children inside Shannon and Brian Gore's mobile home; one of them: caged, naked and starving. A short time later, investigators unearthed the remains of another child on the property.

Both Shannon Gore and her husband Brian face first degree murder, felony child neglect and attempted capital murder charges.

Gore's attorney said he requested that the case be continued because DNA evidence and other tests will not be back in time for August.
