HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) - WAVY-TV 10’s Kerri Furey has laced up her sneakers to begin a 70-mile walk beginning April 25. Eagle 97.3’s Jimmy Ray will join her for the 21st anniversary of Eagle Walk.
The 70-mile walk is designed to bring awareness to birth defects and premature births, and concludes with the March of Dimes event at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on April 29.
Eagle Walk began April 25 in James City County.
“Jimmy and I are more than excited to hit the road! Our walk sounds daunting, but it is nothing compared to the physical and emotional journey countless families face because of birth defect or premature delivery,” Furey said. “This is the least we can do for the babies, the people who love them and the doctors and nurses who now have more ways than ever to help them thanks to the March of Dimes.”
