HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Hampton police tell WAVY.com they've arrested a Hampton man in connection with a shooting in the 1st blk. of Emeraud Plage Friday night.
Detectives arrested 26-year-old Johnathan C. Long, of the 1st block of Emeraud Plage Monday afternoon.
Officers were called to the scene of the shooting at around 11:30 p.m. Friday and arrived to find a 29-year-old male victim shot several times.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he remains in serious condition, according to police.
An investigation revealed that Long shot the victim during a drug transaction. Long too was shot in the leg during an exchange of gun fire with the victim, according to a Hampton police spokesperson. Long is expected to be okay.
Long is facing a long list of charges, to include: one count of Aggravated Malicious Wounding, one count of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine, one count of Possession of a Firearm while in the Possession of Cocaine and one count of Possession of Ecstasy.
Long is being held at the Hampton City Jail.
