CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A Chesapeake man was seriously injured when his car flipped after hitting a tree early Saturday morning.
Around 1:20 a.m. a Chesapeake police officer saw a Chrysler Seabring on its roof near the intersection of Volvo Parkway and Independence Parkway, according to a police spokesperson.
Investigators say that the driver was traveling on Volvo Parkway when his vehicle struck a curb. The driver then overcorrected and hit a tree which caused the car to overturn.
The 24-year-old driver was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with possibly life-threatening injuries.
Police say that speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
